A wondrous rumour has reached us from the furthest corners of the Known World. It is said that a relic of such immeasurable value and awe has been discovered—one that could bring our Kingdom lasting prosperity and joy. The accounts we have received describe an item capable of bestowing great wealth and protection upon the lands that possess it. We are convinced that Lochac would greatly benefit from the remarkable properties this treasure is said to offer.

The Quest:

To claim this relic, we must look to embark upon an adventure of epic proportions, much like the mighty Jason and the Argonauts.

Setting off of the Argo

Therefore, we call upon our people to prepare for the possibility of a glorious journey. No journey of this magnitude is done alone, to succeed in this quest, we will require valiant champions of all martial arts to safeguard us as we travel, those called to service to ensure that events may happen to test the mettle of our forces and a generous bounty to ensure our passage through the Known World.

Thus, we call upon our Baronies, Shires, and all citizens of our realm to rally to this cause. We seek to see great activity across Lochac in the coming days: tournaments to sharpen our fighters, competitions to begin amassing our bounty, and activities that will cultivate the diverse talents of our people.

From this flurry of activity, and from all efforts during our reign, we will appoint champions who exemplify the finest in armoured combat, rapier, archery, equestrian skills, and the arts and sciences. These champions will embody the qualities we need to succeed in our quest for the relic, and their names will be announced at the Rowany Festival.

To enter into contention to become one of our Royal Champions you will need to tell us of your mighty efforts and the fruits of your labour will stand you in good stead to be chosen.

In Short:

Our Royal Champions will be chosen competitively through their participation in their martial art or in the arts and/or sciences.

To be considered to be one of Our champions you need to submit the information on any competition you enter during the period of our reign (from 16 November 2024 to 24 May 2025) through the form below (also here).

There is a scoring rubric by which each entry will be given a score.

The Rubric:

  • Each participant in a tournament/war/competition will be given points based on the amount of people who entered the competition. This will be the square root of the number of entrants (i.e if 15 people enter an arts and sciences competition, each participant will get 3.9 points or if 100 people enter a tournament, each participant will get 10 points).
  • If you come first or second in a competition you will receive extra points – (3 points for winning, 1 point for second)
  • In war, if you command a side or a unit you will receive extra points – (3 points for commanding a side, 1 point for commanding a unit)
  • If you teach a class at an event in which you are also competing in an arts and sciences competition you will receive 3 pts

The people with the most points will be chosen as our champions for each of the martial arts – armoured combat, rapier, archery, equestrian – and for the arts and sciences. If, when the final points are tallied, there are multiple people with equal points, the Crown will make a decision.

To ensure the veracity of the results, we will collaborate with the event organizers and/or group hosting the event to confirm the accuracy of the reported information.
